![]() ![]() The first I love you comes extremely early on and definitely by 40% both women are enamoured. ![]() 3) The romance was established too early one. She unfortunately acted so childishly that I could not believe she was 19! She spoke as though she were a twelve year old and I just couldn't take her seriously. 2) Laura as a character was less compelling than the romance as a whole. 1) The old-fashioned/formal (yet obviously suitable) writing acted as a barrier between my being able to feel that Carmilla and Laura's relationship was genuine. I felt that the reason I didn't find the romance compelling was because of three main reasons. This could have been partly due to the extremely fast paced writing, but I actually felt that, within the 200 pages, more development could have occurred, both in terms of characterisation and romantic growth. My disinterest in the romance was surprising for me. Yet.I was still left feeling indifferent about it? I personally know the author and as a once married gay man I wish this book was around prior to my coming out. ![]() Mike has a great way of sharing the stories of others Thank you for giving voice to a subject many people are not aware exists. Great job and wish you much happiness, Mr. Would love a sequel knowing how those in the stories are doing. Knowing others were dealing with the same issues (kids, coming out at work, being single again) and were willing to talk about it, would have been helpful. Any break up is hard - gay, straight, married or not. Following their hearts and heads authentically was the right thing to do, but they felt badly that they were unintentionally hurting others and breaking up their families. As my friends made the transition from straight relationships to being openly gay, even with supportive friends and family, it was a lonely road. I love this book! As a straight person with 3 gay friends who found themselves in exactly the situation addressed by the book, I found the stories included covered what it is like to be gay in a straight relationship fairly and honestly. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The series is simply incredible, and I found it oddly and profoundly calming.
